Skiing at Bear Creek could be back again.

LONGSWAMP TWP., Pa. — Blessed with a long-awaited nod from Mother Nature, the slopes at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie will reopen at 9 a.m. Sunday, the ski area said Friday.

With up to 5 inches of snow forecast for Lehigh County on Saturday and temperatures expected to drop below freezing this weekend, the ski and snowboarding resort will celebrate its official opening of the season.

From 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. throughout the winter, snow enthusiasts will be able to enjoy swooshing over multiple trails on 86 skiable acres at a vertical drop of more than 500 feet.

Bear Creek was open for a few days during the Christmas holiday. However, persistent rain quickly forced suspension of skiing

In anticipation of the snowfall on Saturday into Sunday, Bear Creek said it has been making snow since Thursday, providing the slopes a good base prior to the snowstorm.

The resort offers skiers the use of quad chair and triple chair ski lifts and a Magic Carpet lift to shuttle guests to the top of the mountain.

Individual ski session tickets, season passes, overnight packages and learn-to-ski sessions are available at www.bcmountainresort.com.
