EASTON, Pa. — The Beach Boys will spend a bit of its endless summer at Easton’s State Theater this year.
The group, which over a career of nearly 60 years has released 22 gold or platinum albums, and which, according to Billboard magazine, is the most successful American band in history, will perform 7:30 p.m. June 27 at Easton’s State Theater, the venue announced Tuesday.
Singer/guitarist Dave Mason, who co-founded the 1960s supergroup Traffic and had the solo hit “We Just Disagree” in 1977, will open the show.
Tickets, at $69-$95, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday at statetheatre.org.
The Beach Boys had nearly 40 Top 30 songs and have sold more than 30 million albums in the United States alone, putting the band in the Top 25 best-selling music groups of all time. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
The group’s No. 1 hits include “Good Vibrations,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “I Get Around” and “Kokomo” in 1988 — its last Top 30 hit.
The group also has performed more concerts than any major rock band in history. It was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and honored at the 2001 Grammy Awards with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked its album "Pet Sounds" No. 2 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and The Beach Boys No. 12 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
