EASTON, Pa. — Fig and Remi were once among the lucky ones.
Found as strays, they originally arrived at the shelter within three years of each other. Both were extremely shy and fearful. Sadly, shy cats and dogs are often overlooked and struggle to find their forever homes. That was not the case with Fig and Remi.
Fig and Remi were both fortunate to find an adopter who wanted nothing more than to give them a safe, warm place to call home. She was willing to give them the love they deserved without any guarantee that her love would be reciprocated. She adopted Fig in 2013 and then Remi in 2016.
Fig and Remi spent many years in a home together. Then in late 2023, their world, and their adopter’s world, was turned upside down. Fig and Remi’s adopter was diagnosed with cancer that left her unable to care for them. She found herself in an unthinkable and heartbreaking situation. Remi and Fig found themselves back at the shelter.
Fig and Remi, now seniors, are hoping for some luck once again. Losing their home was extremely tough on them. However, with time, each other and patient and loving staff to care for them, they are now ready to find their next (and hopefully final) home.
At almost nine years old, Fig is still playful and loves wand toys. He might not be a lap cat, but he’d love to be your shadow and follow you around. Eleven-year-old Remi loves his beauty sleep but also enjoys being brushed and petted. Both enjoy the companionship of other cats.
Fig and Remi are looking for a quiet home that is willing to give them some time to gain their trust.
