ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The phrase "Christmas in July" calls to mind the idea of being giving, conjuring the Yuletide spirit during summer.
Allentown Symphony is taking the phrase literally as well as figuratively.
Through this month, the symphony is offering a 10% discount on tickets to its popular Holiday Pops concert on Dec. 21 and Repertory Dance Theatre's "Nutcracker" on Dec. 7-8, both at Miller Symphony Hall at 23 S. 6th St., Allentown.
Through 11:59 p.m. July 31, you can get $2.50 to $7.40 off tickets to either the 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. symphony Holiday Pops concert of "classics, carols, sing-a-longs and plenty of surprises (including a visit from a certain North Pole resident!)," the symphony website says.
All you have to do is enter the code XMAS10 at checkout.
At the same time, you can get $2.20-$4.70 off tickets to either the 2 p.m. Dec. 7 or 2 p.m. Dec. 8 performance of Repertory Dance Theatre's "Nutcracker."
The website says,"The magic of The Nutcracker brings enchantment to your holidays! Professional guest artists are joined by a cast of 100 dancers with Tchaikovsky’s beloved score performed live by the ASO."
All you have to do is enter the code SNOW10 at checkout.
Seats in all locations still available
The website's choose-your-seat function shows available seats in all seat locations and prices for both the Holiday Pops and "The Nutcracker," except the rows closest to the stage.
Those include even the cheapest seats.
For Holiday Pops, those are $25, meaning they would be $22.50 (plus tax and fees) at checkout. The remaining most expensive seats are $74, meaning you'd pay $66.60 (plus tax and fees) after the discount.
The holiday pops concert is "a sellout every year and now an Allentown holiday music tradition," according to the website. "Perfect for family, friends, and co-workers."
For "The Nutcracker, the cheapest seats are $22, meaning they would be $18.80 (plus tax and fees). The most expensive seats are $47, meaning they would be $42.30 (plus tax and fees) after the discount.
The offer is only good on full-price tickets and can't be combined with any other offer.
