Metal band Sanguisugabogg will perform at Allentown's new Archer Music Hall on May 12. Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 14.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Another death metal band has been announced as an upcoming performer at downtown Allentown's soon-to-open Archer Music Hall.

Sanguisugabogg, a Columbus, Ohio-based band that released its debut EP "Pornographic Seizures" in 2019, will perform at 6 p.m. Monday, May 12.

Also on the bill will be 200 Stab Wounds and Gridiron.

Tickets, the prices of which have not been announced, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14 at the Archer website.

Sanguisugabogg started in 2019 and after a series of singles released its debut album, "Tortured Whole," in 2021. It released its sophomore album, "Homicidal Ecstasy," in 2023.

In June, the band released its latest single, "Permanently F—ed."

The announcement of Sanguisugabogg brings to 25 the number of shows booked for the venue as it prepares to open March 8 with a performance by gold-selling Brazilian metal band Cavalera.

Those shows, as well as several others announced since Archer unveiled its initial lineup, may indicate how booking at the venue may lean.

In addition to Cavalera, Archer has announced shows by death metal band Napalm Death with The Melvins on May 6; Canadian post-hardcore rockers Silverstein on May 11; industrial-metal band Static-X with Gwar on June 12; and Lancaster County hard rockers From Ashes to New on June 13.

That means six of the first 24 shows booked — 25% of the venue's lineup — will be metal or hard rock.

Comparisons to Croc Rock

That's similar to the lineups offered by the former Crocodile Rock Cafe in downtown Allentown — to which the Archer has been compared.

Crocodile Rock, with a capacity of 1,100 standing, was slightly smaller than Archer Music Hall, which has a capacity of 1,600, with its open, standing main floor, and 132 seats upstairs, with standing areas behind them.

Archer also is booked by industry giant Live Nation, while Crocodile Rock booked its acts independently.

As with Crocodile Rock, which closed in 2017, the rest of the shows booked for the Archer exhibit a broad range of styles.

But as with Crocodile Rock, which closed in 2017, the rest of the shows booked for the Archer exhibit a broad range of styles.

They include bluegrass of The Travelin' McCoury on March 15 and The Mountain Grass Unit June 14; and reggaeton and Latin Music with Gasolina Party, also on March 15.

Also, punk with Dead Kennedys on March 30; pop with Jojo on March 31; indie-pop with Yot club on April 10; and New Orleans jazz with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on July 25.

Also, retro stylist cover band stylist band Lake Street Dive on July 18; roots rockers Drive-By Truckers and Deer Tick on July 24; rap with Lil Skies on April 11; and pop-soul of Lawrence on Oct. 11.
