River Crossing YMCA has announced it will manage the Southern Lehigh Community (SOLECO) Pool at 3900 Jacoby Road in Coopersburg for the 2025 season.

COOPERSBURG, Pa. — After 60 years of being managed by volunteers, Southern Lehigh Community Pool will have someone new running it this summer.

River Crossing YMCA announced it will manage the pool, at 3900 Jacoby Road, Coopersburg for the 2025 season.

The pool will operate May 24 through Sept. 1, and be open noon-8 p.m. for general summer swim memberships.

“We were thrilled to be contacted by the SOLECO Pool Board about the possibility of managing the pool this year. They are a passionate, community-minded group of individuals, and we know how important the pool is to this community and the Southern Lehigh School District."
River Crossing YMCA Chief Operations Officer Trish Feinthel

Pool memberships for people who are not YMCA members is $125 for ages 12-64, $85 for ages 65 and older and $325 for a non-YMCA member family.

The family of a non-YMCA swim team member costs $244.

Memberships are available at the YMCA website.

Guest day passes also are available at $20 without a YMCA membership, $10 with a summer swim team member, $40 for a family day pass (all living in same household, with or without member) and $7 to enter after 6 p.m.

'Shared commitment to serving community'

Since 1964, when volunteers raised money for a pool to serve the community, the pool has been run by the SOLECO Community Pool Board, a group of community volunteers.

Last fall, the board approached the YMCA to assume management of the pool, the YMCA said in a release.

"Conversations progressed quickly as the two organizations have a shared commitment to serving the community and providing basic water safety, progressive swim lessons, competitive swimming and personal fitness opportunities," the release said.

The YMCA will offer "high-quality aquatics programs to swimmers of all ages," will support the SOLECO Swim Team, and provide "a fun, safe place for families to enjoy this summer.”
