EASTON, Pa. – Northampton County voters have new options on how to return their mail-in ballot, officials announced Tuesday.
Three secure ballot drop-off boxes will be installed in new areas of the county prior to the April 23 primary election, bringing the total number of drop-off boxes to seven.
According to the Northampton County Elections Office, the new locations are:
- The Washington Township Municipal Building (Main Entrance Vestibule) at 1021 Washington Blvd., just outside Bangor;
- The East Allen Township Municipal Building (Main Lobby) at 5344 Nor Bath Blvd., outside Northampton Borough;
- The NCC Fowler Family Southside Center (Main Lobby) at 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem
The new boxes join four other boxes at these locations:
- The Northampton County Courthouse (Rotunda) at 669 Washington St, Easton;
- The Northampton County Human Services Building (Main Entrance Vestibule) at 2801 Emrick Blvd., Bethlehem Township;
- The Northampton County 911 Center (Main Entrance Vestibule) at 100 Gracedale Ave., Upper Nazareth Township;
- Bethlehem City Hall (Main Lobby) at 10 E. Church St., Bethlehem
Accessing the drop-off boxes will not require going through security at any location, officials said.
Applications for mail-in and civilian absentee ballots are available in the Elections Office on the lower level of the courthouse at 669 Washington St., or by visiting The PA Voter Services website.
The last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot is Tuesday, April 16. Only registered Republicans and Democrats can vote in the primary. The deadline to register to vote in the primary is April 8.
All seven drop boxes will be available in the coming weeks for Northampton County voters.
No updates yet in Lehigh County
Lehigh County has not yet announced updates to its drop off box locations.
In 2023, the county had five secure drop boxes, one in each of the County Commissioner Districts.
The Lehigh County Government Building location on Seventh Street in Allentown had 24/7 access for deposit located outside of the main entrance.
Other locations included:
- The Whitehall Township Building (District 1) at 3219 MacArthur Road in Whitehall;
- The Lehigh County Authority Lobby (District 2) at 1053 Spruce Road, Lower Macungie Township (Wescosville, PA 18106);
- The Fountain Hill Borough Building (District 3) at 941 Long St., Fountain Hill
- The Macungie Borough Building (District 5) at 21 Locust St., Macungie
Each drop box location was monitored via electronic surveillance. That came after a county judge threw out a lawsuit that sought in-person monitoring and other changes to ballot drop boxes in the county in late 2022.
