SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — Although the weather has turned cold and the rides are closed, Dorney Park's Iron Menace still is getting attention.
The park announced its Iron Menace roller coaster, which opened this year, has been nominated for USA Today's 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for Best New Theme Park Attraction.
Recognized for its "innovative design and thrilling experience," Iron Menace was selected by a panel of expert judges and USA Today's editorial team, according to a news release.
“It’s a reflection of the hard work and creativity of our team."Ryan Eldredge, Dorney Park public relations manager
The public can cast their votes through Monday, Dec. 23, with voting open until 11:59 a.m. on the final day.
Fans are encouraged to vote once per day for their favorite attractions, and the Top 10 winners will be announced Jan. 2.
“We are honored to have Iron Menace nominated for this esteemed award,” Dorney Park Public Relations Manager Ryan Eldredge said.
“It’s a reflection of the hard work and creativity of our team. We invite everyone to support Iron Menace and help it earn its place as one of the top new attractions in the country.”
The coaster welcomed its first-ever riders in April. It features a 95-degree drop from a height of 152 feet and elements such as a tilted loop and zero G-roll.
Set in an industrial-themed area that pays homage to Bethlehem Steel, the coaster's story is centered around Hiram McTavish, a mysterious and murderous fictional steel baron.
USA Today says its 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards celebrate excellence across a range of travel and entertainment categories, with winners determined solely by public vote.
Participation is free, and votes can be cast daily during the voting period.
