BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Northampton Community College inked new agreements guaranteeing that three Pennsylvania universities will count NCC coursework toward certain four-year degrees, the college announced Thursday.
The agreements allow students to start select degree programs at NCC and finish them at Penn State, Villanova and Commonwealth Universities without losing credits. All three offer merit-based scholarships for some transfer students.
“These new agreements ensure that NCC students can transfer smoothly to the college of their choosing, ensuring minimal disruption in their educational journey and providing them with ample financial support,” a representative for the college wrote in a statement.
Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses offer guaranteed admission to NCC students with a 2.0 GPA or better enrolled in 14 majors including biology, criminal justice, nursing and psychology.
Eligible students who transfer to a Penn State Commonwealth Campus may receive RaiseMe scholarships worth up to $7,000 over two years.
Villanova University will similarly accept NCC credits toward programs in its College of Professional Studies. Students who transfer there are eligible for up to a 25% tuition reduction, depending on their GPA.
Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania will grant at least full junior standing to students who transfer there and continue the same major. It also offers a renewable scholarship for transfer students up to $4,500, also depending on GPA.
The latest articulation agreements join more than a dozen others between NCC and institutions across the Commonwealth.
