ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Schools around the Lehigh Valley are starting soon. Here are some important dates and things to note for each of the 17 school districts. Mark your calendar!
Allentown School District
- School start date: Aug. 28.
- Labor Day holidays: Sept. 1 and 4.
- Thanksgiving break: Nov. 23, 24 and 27.
- Winter break: Dec. 22 - Jan. 2
Of note: Uniforms are now optional in the Allentown School District for the 2023-24 School Year. The breakfast menu options for elementary schools have also been expanded. Check the website for more.

- PRCP at the Allentown Arts Park: Saturday, Aug. 19 from 12-3 p.m.
- TakeFlight Society at 502 N 7th St.: Sunday, Aug. 20 from 2-4 p.m.

East Penn School District

- Thanksgiving break: Nov. 23-27

Of note: The East Penn School District offers the Virtual East Penn Academy (VESPA), an online learning option for K-12 students. Students can engage in self-paced online coursework from home while remaining enrolled in the district. There’s still one information session available on Aug. 21, either in person at the East Penn School District Administration Building or virtually via registration.
Nazareth Area School District
- School start date: Aug. 28
