WILLIAMS TWP., Pa. — On a cold, rainy day in March, we received a call about a dog found tied to a stop sign with a ratchet strap. He had no tags, no name. He was missing fur, and his paw was cut.

When he arrived at our shelter, we gave the dog a name: Pauly D.

A short time after, we discovered that he was deaf.

We can’t imagine what it was like for Pauly D. to find himself abandoned, alone in the cold, scared and in silence.

Fortunately, he found his way to us.

When he arrived, our staff had very limited experience with deaf dogs but knew that Pauly needed training to give him the best chance at finding his forever home.

They reached out to other organizations for help but received no response. That didn’t stop them though. They trained themselves, and then they trained Pauly.

In late May, the stars aligned for Pauly when he was adopted by someone who has experience with deaf dogs. When his adoption day arrived, he left our building with a few things that every dog deserves: a real collar, a name, a pawful of skills, but most importantly, the chance to be wanted and loved.

Pauly now has a new name, Doozy, and thanks to his amazing dad, and a new leash on life!

Doozy goes everywhere with his dad and has fans of all ages everywhere he goes!

His biggest fan though, is his dad who says that Doozy is doing fantastic, is such a good boy and is the best dog in the world!

We are so happy Doozy found the paw-fect family and now has the life he deserves!
